CMYUK’s specialist architectural materials division highlights the event’s commitment to sustainability through its use of PVC-free Kavalan banners.
Arkutex – the specialist architectural textiles division of CMYUK – has been appointed as an Event Partner for BCFA / WOD’s Clerkenwell Open to be held on 9th and 10th September 2021.
Highlighting the event’s commitment to sustainability, Arkutex will be providing PVC- banners from the PVC-free Kavalan range. A high performing versatile display range that renders traditional PVC banner material obsolete, Kavalan has all the advantages of PVC but with none of its eco-malignance. It is suited to single-piece wallcoverings, double-sided hanging graphics, display systems and signage. Kavalan is perfect for retail, events, exhibitions and exterior applications.
Traditional PVC material produces 2.6 times* more CO2 equivalents than Kavalan. PVC is recognised for its harmful chemical content and the significantly damaging environmental effects upon disposal, including ground and water course contamination.
The Kavalan PVC-free banner range is available with full, independently verified LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) data incorporating Global Warming Potential (GWP), and toxicity analysis.
Following the Clerkenwell event, banners will be managed through Arkutex’s ecokarma scheme. Specifically designed to divert eco polyester-based and PVC-free materials from landfill, ecokarma provides a fully documented, trackable waste collection and recycling service for post-printed end-of-life products.
BCFA’s Marketing and Events Manager, Nadia Hussain, commented: “We are delighted to work with Arkutex to provide banners for the Clerkenwell Open event. We are committed to minimising our environmental impact through this event and the use of PVC-free Kavalan banner material makes a significant contribution to this initiative.”
Operating as a division of CMYUK, Arkutex has been launched to offer a portfolio of surface textiles and print-ready materials for the built environment.
