This festival is organised by the BCFA (British Contract Furniture Association) and the WOD (Women in Office Design)
The BCFA is the British business association for the contract furnishing industry, covering the full spectrum of interior products and services in the UK and globally. The 200+ members are accredited by the association and are leading manufacturers, suppliers and designers of furnishing services for commercial buildings throughout the UK and in world markets.
Members of the BCFA create effective spaces and settings for their clients, providing design integrity, function, quality and value. They create the opportunity for clients to buy with confidence and experience complete satisfaction.
A company can only become a member of the BCFA when it satisfies the association’s standard of professionalism and makes a commitment to provide the market with the highest standards of service.
The association supports an atmosphere of enterprise and fair competition where members operate ethically, encourage excellence and strive for improved standards in their businesses.
“After what has been a challenging year for our sector, we felt it was essential to organise this event to provide a boost to support the Clerkenwell showrooms so that they quickly regain their vibrancy and vital role within the contract sector.” – Jeremy Stein, Managing Director of the BCFA
WOD (Women in Office Design) is a global networking group for women in the workplace design industry.
Founded by interior designer Harsha Kotak in May 2018, Women in Office Design is a platform for architects, designers, manufacturers and dealers, specifiers, space planners and workplace strategists from around the world to connect, share knowledge and discuss ideas within a dedicated design community.
With chapters in the UK, Europe and India and over 2000+ WOD members and growing, Women in Office Design warmly welcomes individuals, companies and groups who are looking to connect with dynamic design professionals. WOD events range from fun collaborative workshops, seminars and talks about industry related topics that support educational and professional growth.
Harsha noticed the disparity in numbers of women executives in the workplace design industry and these statistics were surprising, if not disconcerting.
She questioned, what do we want our industry to look like in the future and how do we get there? Harsha recognised the urgent need for a strong network that can support and foster women’s career growth in the industry. A unique environment where women can inspire and get inspired, and where idols become accessible mentors.
In 2020, WOD launched “WOD Digital” – an online platform for Community, Academy & Events.
This app-based platform lets WOD members engage in open conversation amongst the community, giving direct access to make business contacts. It is a community where you can expand your network, seek new opportunities, upskill and learn from industry experts through WOD’s academy courses and workshops.
“The A&D community has missed out on networking and learning in last year and with Clerkenwell Open festival we endeavour to bring designers, specifiers and workplace experts together, to socialise and share ideas and knowledge through our seminars and workshops.” – Harsha Kotak, Founder of WOD
